Today, Marigold completed her first triathlon. It was a great event - all women, lots of kids, do-able distances. But it was in a real lake, with a hilly bike course, and it was more new terrain. And she's so little, as far as triathlons go. There was a minor fall on the big hill and some tears. In the midst of it, I'm hoping there were lessons about getting up after you fall down, thinking positively, and the value of doing things that are difficult even if the benefit doesn't seem worth it in the moment. But we plugged along - singing, skipping, re-telling The Little Engine That Could, talking, even piggy-backing - and finished together.
