Keystone Smooth
Tonight was one of our most delightful summer evenings ever. After our favorite Omaha pizza at Zio's, we went for another of our still rare evening bike rides. It was a beautiful evening and we needed some fresh air after being cooped up by the heat and the nasty summer viruses about which Sarah blogged. MG still resists the bike a bit, despite her skills, and she just wasn't very excited to get started. Starting and stopping are still a challenge and it is daunting to ride the brakes all the way down the Harney hill, I must concede. We have a route to the park that only crosses a few streets, none of which are particularly busy. We had planned to play at the playground. As we approached, having made it all the way without stopping for traffic, she said that she would rather just keep on riding. She has never not wanted to hit the playground! She just rode and rode and rode. Sarah led the way, with Marigold right behind and Marley in the burley trailer behind me. We had to walk across busy Pacific street, which we then followed on a nice wide, offset sidewalk that joins right up with the Keystone trail. Keystone is a very popular bike trail that runs for miles and miles along a creek with underpasses at many streets. Underpasses! Genius! She loved it! We all loved it! Even Marley was making mostly happy sounds from the rear. I bet as long as Daddy will walk an extra bike back up Harney hill, we'll be seeing a lot more of the Keystone Trail this fall.
