Jay and I had a wonderful weekend in Madison. We caught up with old friends, went out with several of said friends and danced past midnight (first time since we can remember!), visited our favorite haunts (i.e., strolled along State Street, went for a morning run in the arboretum, drank coffee on the union terrace...and dropped some cash at REI), and reminisced about our six years in Wisconsin. We were disappointed by the big Husker loss (ouch!), but we enjoyed (at least the first half of) the game and our incredible 50 yard lines seats. And at least one of us was happy for Bucky.
The girls for their part had a wonderful weekend in Lincoln with Grandma and Nonnie. They went to the zoo and McDonald's (a rare treat for them!), enjoyed Halloween art projects and found a fuzzy caterpillar (now with a new home in our backyard).
Madison represents a very special time in our life. Just us. Before we had kids. We thought we were so busy and we were. Now we wonder what we did with all that time without Marigold and Marley. (Jay reminded me, we became a lawyer and a radiologist.) It was good time. We have good friends and good memories. And Madison will always be on a pedestal. But nothing beats coming home.
