This week marked the completion of Marigold's first quarter of kindergarten, our first "official" parent-teacher conferences, and a 4-day fall break weekend. With Marley's school also closed on Friday, Jay and I took the days off and we had some wonderful family time. A wonderful and much needed fall break and fall breather. We spent Thursday night at a cabin at Mahoney State Park. The weather was crisp and beautiful. We hiked and biked, played on the playgrounds and played tag (Marigold knows many versions of tag, thanks to her fabulous P.E. teacher), explored the trains and plains, grilled out and snuggled in.
We returned home and had a typical Saturday - we went to swimming practice and the gym, ran errands, and watched football. During Marley's nap, Marigold and I headed over to UNO to watch the Maverick women's swimming & diving meet. Our little swimmer watched intently.
Sunday brought church and baking (pumpkin muffins for the Montessori toddler snack), and Marigold and Marley's first movie at a theater. It was actually a documentary at the IMAX, but nevertheless a good example of the truism that younger children get to do things earlier than firstborns - Marigold saw her first movie at age 5 and Marley saw hers at age 2!
