This week was one of taking big steps and trying new things.
On Thursday, Marley had her first visit at the Montessori school. Marigold was so proud to have her little sister on the premise and Jay and I waited anxiously upstairs with Marley in the hands of our beloved toddler teacher. When we went back downstairs to pick her up (after an hour), we found her sitting with new little friends in the book nook. It has been such a blessing to have Marley in the care of Grandma for the past six months, but we think she is ready now to interact with some little peers and to explore the same Montessori "works" that have been so beneficial to Marigold.
On Thursday night, Marigold had her first soccer practice at the park near our house. Without knowing any of the other kids (we did t-ball last summer with a buddy) and without having ever played soccer before (and in cold temps), Marigold learned to dribble and kick the ball into the goal. And I am officially a soccer mom!
Today was kindergarten day. This morning, Marigold had her kindergarten/5 year old physical, which included a hearing and vision screening (both normal), a finger poke, and two shots. Boy, those shots are tough at age 5, but Marigold was incredibly sweet and brave. And a princess sticker made it all better. This afternoon, Marigold attended kindergarten round-up, which included a kindergarten readiness assessment. We haven't made a final decision on the school (deadline for that decision is next week), but we are pretty sure that Marigold is ready for kindergarten.
Oh, and Marley fully weaned this week.
