Splash meet

Marigold participated in her first "splash meet" (swim meet for littler kids) today.  Jay and I were both on the edge of our seats, but by her third heat, following lots of encouragement from her coach, she decided to do it...her way.  She wanted to start at the deep end.  Don't ask us why.  We think because that is the way she had practiced.  Or perhaps there was something less scary about going from the deep end to the shallow, rather than seeing the big deep end ahead.  But shortly after the whistle blew, she swam off in the opposite direction of the other 4 year olds (her two buddies from school) and made it to the shallow end.  The crowd cheered!  "Super swimmer" ribbons now hang in her bedroom.
